How to Set Up Google Analytics and Share the Code for WordPress
Step 1: Sign Up for a Google Analytics Account
- Go to Google Analytics.
- Click the “Start for Free” or “Sign In to Analytics” button (if you already have a Google account).
- Log in with your Google account. If you don’t have one, create a Google account first.
- Follow these steps in the setup wizard:
- Enter an account name (e.g., your business name).
- Select your data-sharing preferences and click Next.
- Add a property (e.g., your website):
- Name the property (e.g., “MyWebsite Analytics”).
- Choose your reporting time zone and currency.
- Click Next and fill out your business details (e.g., Industry, Business Size).
- Click Create and accept the terms of service.
Step 2: Set Up a Web Data Stream
- Once your account is created, click “Set up a Data Stream”.
- Select Web as the platform.
- Enter your website’s URL and name the stream.
- Click Create Stream.
Step 3: Get the Tracking Code
- On the Web Stream Details page, find the “Global Site Tag (gtag.js)” section.
- Copy the code snippet provided under “Tagging Instructions”.
Step 4: Send the Code
- Paste the copied code into an email or text document.
- Send it to me so I can integrate it into your WordPress website.
Optional: Grant Access to Your Analytics Account
If you prefer, you can also grant me access to your Analytics account so I can retrieve the code and monitor performance:
